Originally introduced to the world as Zingiber parishii this still rare ginger was actually an undescribed new species. It was in cultivation for many years before it finally got an official name, Zingiber pyroglossum. It is similar is form and inflorescence to the common edible ginger but has lovely yellow cones and red and white flowers. It is a relatively small plant so can be grown and bloom in 1 gallon pots. It has not been thoroughly test in the ground over winter but should prove to be hardy. Limited supply
