In our quest for “Perfect” Globba (beautiful pendent blooms with bulbils!) we are excited to introduce another Gingerwood exclusive. Globba grandis ‘Perfect White’ has a large and long pendent white inflorescence superficially similar to Globba sherwoodiana (“White Dragon”). The bracts are a more solid white and among other differences this species makes bulbils. But not just any bulbils, HUGE bulbils that are several times larger than typicals species. The foliage of Globba ‘Perfect White’ is wide, soft and fuzzy to the touch, AND purple underneath. The flowers are typical yellow Dancing Girl types but they keep coming day after day for months!! This species is one of the taller ones we have topping out at 2 feet tall. It is one of the most elegant species and fortunately we are able to bring this one into the “market” much faster than others we are working on. We originally sold this as Globba sp. but in late 2020 it was officially published as a new species, Globba grandis. The name refers to its large size.
Grows to 2′ in shade, hardy in USDA Zone 8 and above.
