Dormant rhizomes available for preorder now, March 2023 delivery
We’ve finally been able to secure additional stock on this very popular new “Dancing Girl Ginger” These have sold out quickly every time we restock but hopefully this additional supply will last longer.
Maejo University has released a small series of Dancing Girl ginger hybrids to the farmers in and around the Chaingmai area of Thailand. These beautiful new hybrids have not been named, only numbered. One company released two of the hybrids to a US broker but only for one year. One of these was the beautiful ‘Maejo #14.’ In addition to only selling them once, they also got the numbers wrong and this one we originally were told was ‘Maejo #16.’ So if you have a ‘Maejo #16’ its most likely ‘Maejo #14.’ Confusion aside Globba hybridizing is a relatively new field with very few players. To date only 4 Globba hybrids have been sold on the US market. The Maejo hybrids and work by a few others is very encouraging. The number of new discoveries in the wild is providing an unlimited possibility of colors and shapes.
Globba hybrid ‘Maejo #14’ is a shade plant as are most Globba. It is perfect as a pot plant and happy in the shade garden as well. It is a relatively short hybrid topping out at one foot tall usually.
