Curcuma ‘Sakura’ is a relatively new introduction and is either an unusual color for Curcuma sparganifolia or a hybrid with it. It is in the miniature “Tulip Ginger” category and like other Curcuma sparganifolia types is very similar to Curcuma alismatifolia just with all parts smaller. The narrow leaves are an indication of species that are found in full sun locations in the wild. ‘Sakura’ and similar miniatures make great potted plants due to their small stature. In the garden a sunny location with well drained soil is needed. Very limited number of rhizomes available this year.
Grows to 12″ in medium to full sun, hardy in USDA Zone 8 and above
