Will be available as growing plants again in early summer 2021
Globba amplectens ‘Green Bells’ is an intriguing species that was just recently given an official name in late 2020. This pendant beauty is special for a few reason, most impressively it takes a great deal to get my to appreciate an all green inflorescence! The bracts on this species are very unusual in that they wrap around the stem completely. No other species has this characteristic. This is a bulbil producing species though it only makes a few per inflorescence. The foliage on this species is a complete and total knockout though!! The stems arch and the wide rounded leaves are spaced perfectly making an incredible architectural statement. Discovered and introduced into cultivation by the late great ginger collector Mark Collins.
Grows to 1.5′ in shade. Hardy in Zones 8 and above.
