One of many in a new “series” of Curcuma hybrids coming out of an exciting breeding program in Thailand. The majority of these hybrids are wide crosses and unlike anything on the market before. Fortunately I was lucky enough to see many of these on display in Thailand a few years ago and am able to select and offer the varieties I think are the best. Many of these crosses are between Curcuma alismatifolia (Tulip Ginger) and larger species (foliage and bloom) in a different subgenus.
Apollo has vivid red inflorescences with the added bonus of red stems, both on bloom stalk and leaves.
Grows to 1.5-2′ in medium sun. Cold hardy from USDA Zone 8-10
