Globba hilaris ‘Over the Top White’ is another easy to grow Dancing Girl ginger that we are introducing in 2019. It is a Gingerwood Nursery introduction and exclusive. This species is a medium size for a Globba topping out at one foot usually. The soft fuzzy leaves and stems hold an inflorescence of white bracts with yellow flowers. This semi erect inflorescence is held above the foliage leading to the super clever name ‘Over the Top White.’ In reality that was just a note scribbled on a tag to reference it but the name stuck. This species produces several bulbils per stem/inflorescence and will make a nice colony in the shade garden. It is quite happy to be grown in 6″ pots as well. This species was introduced as Globba sp. but in late 2020 it was officially published as Globba hilaris.
Grows to 1′ in shade, hardy in USDA Zones 8 and above
