Growing plants will be restocked in spring 2023
Griffinia liboniana is a very unusual and rare relative of the beloved Hippeastrum (Amaryllis). This native of Brazil differs from Amaryllis and most other genera in the family by having both light blue flowers and silver patterned foliage! It is also a repeat bloomer often blooming 2 or 3 times in a season. Each blooming stalk can have at least 6 flowers. Although it has not been tested for cold hardiness it will come back from light frost if say accidentally left out in the first frost of the year (not that I would know anything about such accidental neglect….). It is recommeded for potted plant culture in areas with winter freezes and can be grown as a houseplant over winter if a greenhouse is not available. If exposed to prolonged cold (but not freezing) temperatures it will go dormant over winter. In a warmer environment it will be evergreen. Unlike its extremely rare and insanely expensive Worsleya this blue Amaryllid is very easy to grow. The silver flecked leaves give it appeal all season long even when the beautiful flowers are done.
Grows to 8″ in filtered shade. 6″ pots are an appropriate size to grow these in. Well drained potting mix is preferred.
