Curcuma alismatifolia ‘Snow White’ – It takes a very special cultivar to withstand the test of time against intense competition. The cut flower trade and potted plant market has driven the development of literally hundreds of cultivars of Curcuma alismatifolia and its hybrids. Very very few cultivars from the early days are still in wide production. ‘Snow White’ is still a favorite of Dutch cut flower growers, even some 20+ years after its first release. The name is a bit deceiving as the unique feature of this cultivar is the red tips, as well as the wavy edges of the bracts. In a non full sun location the red tips do not show up and in that case ‘Snow White’ makes a bit more sense. Another great feature of this one is the size of the inflorescence. It is very wide making it ideal for floral arrangements.
Grows to 1.5’ in medium to full sun. Cold hardy in Zones 8 and higher.
